Brace yourselves for a weekend of cycling in the mountains. The Munnar cycling tour takes you through the beautiful Kannan Devan Hills, you will be riding on vast rolling hills dotted with tea plantations to the views of the Shola forest and a scenic ride through the Marayoor Sandalwood reserve.
You will also be hiking up the Thoovanam water falls, this is an easy trek with ample scope to spot some rare wildlife, there have been instances of spotting elephants, langurs and elusive giant grizzled squirrels.
Pleasant weather, rich biodiversity, quaint village roads and forest trails and good food makes Munnar an exciting weekend getaway destination. Your tour is a mix of cycling, a bike ride through a quaint trail in a National Park and a medium intensity hike.

This trail is recommended for an active cyclist who is familiar with climbing hills on a cycle while the distance is short the intensity of the climb is moderately high. As ever, you can rely on the Unventured support team to motivate & cycle along with you to make it to the top!

The expedition includes about 40 kms of cycling of which approximately 30 kms will be uphill climbs. The trail goes through Marayoor sandalwood reserve, Mannavan Shola evergreen forest (MTB terrain) and Tea estates. The trail pursues the road less taken to reach Munnar while avoiding the traffic-congested main roads to the hill station.
The expedition also includes a low intensity trek to the Thoovanam Waterfalls. The trail provides ample scope to note animal trials, spot the rare birds and learn new things about the wildlife. Trek Difficulty level: Easy
We will leave for Munnar on Thursday night and reach Munnar early morning. We will check-in to the hotel and rest for the morning half and head out for a short ride in the afternoon.
This is a partly a leisure day just to help you recoup from your long journey from Bangalore the previous day

Post breakfast, we start our ride from the hotel towards Top Station a beautiful ride through eucalyptus plantations, tea plantations and enroute we’ll stop by some dams and water bodies. Picnic lunch enroute. Post lunch, ride back towards Munnar until we tire out, then load up and drive to the hotel.

Post a sumptuous breakfast we check out of our hotel rooms and ride downhill to Chinar wildlife Sanctuary. Once in the sanctuary we will trek to the Thoovanam falls. Relish a picnic basket/packed lunch at the Thoovanam falls. Post lunch we will hike back to the road and then drive back to Munnar. Late evening we will board a arrival in Bangalore.
Note: Dont forget to pack a pair of changing clothes so you can enjoy a refreshing time at the waterfalls.
Your tour will be supported by a well trained mechanic, and a full repair kit with essential spares. However, we strongly encourage participants to carry their basic bike maintenance kit along. We will also be carrying a back-up cycle along the expedition; just so that nobody misses out on the riding experience should their bike have a serious breakdown.
A full sized first aid kit including oxygen canisters will be carried during the trip. Our tour leaders have appropriate wilderness first-aid training and are experienced in dealing with a range of medical problems associated with adventure travel. We also recommend that you bring your own personal medication, sunscreen and multi-vitamin tablets
We are obsessed with the safety of our guests and as an adventure expedition the risk of injuries is higher than most other travel journeys. We follow a strict guideline in controlling and managing the pace of the group and discipline. We are well versed with the challenges faced bt travelers on this stretch and also have in-depth information on possible places to reach out to for medical aid in the event of an emergency. You will be instructed each day on the trail, what to expect, do’s and don’ts so you do not put your lives at risk and affect the fellow travellers’ tour experience. Although we indemnify ourselves and our staff from the legalities of any life threatening events through a “Declaration” document, your safety and security remains are prime prerogative.
