Before I book an Unventured tour
    • Who will be my travel companions?

The beauty of travelling with Unventured is that you’ll have the opportunity to meet, interact, and travel with people from all over the globe.

    • How many people will be on my tour?

Unventured is a travel company, which focuses on small groups, and the group size does not usually exceed 12 participants. This helps us maintain our stringent safety and security standards and also allows participants to get to know each other better.

    • Will I have free time?

Each itinerary offers the perfect balance of downtime and discoveries. We understand that you may have varied interests and we will accommodate and facilitate your interests. If you have a special request, do inform us while booking your tour. Our non-intensive, leisure trips move at a more relaxed pace.

    • What are the cycles and transport like?

We pride ourselves on having the finest fleet of cycles and a support vehicle – which is fuel efficient, fully air-conditioned – and with reclining seats for comfort. Look up this page, “The Experience” for more details.

    • What can I expect in terms of accommodation?

Hygiene and comfort are two primary factors we keep in mind when selecting accommodation for our guests. As an adventure travel company offering you local experiences, we want to ensure you get to interact with locals to learn their way of life. We use a mix of home-stays, hotels, and tented camp accommodations in remote regions on few of our tours. We select our accommodation based on the destination and some of the experiences that are unique to that region. For example, you’ll get to stay at a cosy Ladakhi homestay en route to Leh, amidst the hills, allowing you soak in nature and understanding their way of life. Or a comfortable hotel, depending on the availability at certain locations.

    • Can I book a group?

Yes, you can book for a group. We ensure hassle free bookings for groups – and we offer some great packages. If you’re a group of five or more, fill out this customised tour form and send it back to us.

    • Does Unventured promote sustainable tourism?

Yes, we try and reduce our carbon footprint as much as we can. Well, our primary form of transport – two wheels on a cycle or two feet are already saving us from contributing to the carbon footprint! There are other measures we take like reducing our plastic intake and supporting local businesses. For example, we like opting to stay at homestays instead of corporate chains. Our travellers on our long-haul tours get a water bottle with a filter attached so that you can fill water from clear streams and drink without feeling stressed. We also ensure that any campsite we use is left spick-and-span when we leave it.

Visit our blog page on Sustainable Eco-Tourism initiatives at Unventured.

    • What is the single traveller supplement?

If you prefer the privacy of your own room, you can opt for our single supplement. The cost variance will depend on your trip. Talk to our team member who is coordinating with you for more information about single supplement and inclusions.

    • I am a single woman traveller, how safe is it?

All Unventured tours are small groups with a maximum of 12 travellers in mixed groups. We are sensitive to the subject of safety and security with respect to single woman travellers. Our tour leaders are adept at making sure you are made comfortable on the tour. Simple measures such us allocations of rooms around our travel group is one such example. Our tour leaders are sensitive to your needs and concerns and you can rely upon and share your concerns with them.

    • What if I have a special dietary requirement?

We can accommodate guests who are vegetarian and can assist with diabetic, gluten-free, and other medically-recommended diets. Please place a request at the time of booking. However, due to the different kinds of terrain and places we travel to, we will not be able to supply meals in accordance to strict religious requirements.

Before I go on my Unventured experience:
    • Are airport transfers included?

Transfers will depend on the trip you choose and vary between destinations. In general, if you are joining or departing your guided holiday on the first or last day, return transfers between the airport and hotel are included.

    • What travel documents will I need?

For an international traveller, visa, travel insurance, and necessary documents suggested by the Indian Embassy will be required. We will coordinate and work with you to help procure the said documents necessary for your tour. Do also check up this section for more information.

    • Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes, we do have a cancellation policy. At Unventured, we are not governed by a stringent policy to cover our commercial interests, we want to play it by the ear and ensure we make fair decisions to help customers not incur heavy losses when cancelling. Part of organising any travel activity, tour operators like us run the risk of making advance bookings and payments to hotels, eateries, and service providers. Our cancellation policy intends to try and balance this out between our losses and the customers need to cancel a tour.

    • How much luggage can I bring?

A detailed list of things to pack will be mailed to you before your tour. We will keep in mind the weather conditions and activities involved. You will also be guided in terms of appropriate clothing to wear to certain religious destinations you may visit on your tour.

    • Can I bring my own bicycle?

Cycles are usually complimentary on our trail; you also have the option of bringing your own cycle and depending on the destination and distance we will help you transport your cycle to and fro.

    • Are there any optional/customized experiences and when can I book them?

We realise that everyone likes some time to themselves, which is why we’ve left free time on all of our itineraries. We have also included some “must do” activities pertaining to each destination, nevertheless, if you want to get the most out of your destination, let us know of your interests and we can help you tailor make your trip.

    • What is a support vehicle and how will it help me?

There will be rest stops every 20-35 kilometres depending on the terrain; you will have access to your luggage, and the opportunity to have drinks/snacks that the support vehicle will carry for you. Your support vehicle will travel with you at a 200 meters distance from you at all times, giving a levy to traffic and other occurrences.

Not all countries of the world have the same transport facilities and regulations. At all destinations we ensure that transport meets the standards of local regulations; you must be prepared for this to be of a different standard than you may be accustomed to.

    • What if I become ill on my trip and am unable to continue?

Your tour leader is trained and certified in first aid and wilderness medicine. In the event of an illness in a remote location, he/she will monitor and assess the severity of your illness and support you with quick medical aid. In the event of an illness, our team will plan for evacuation measures, assist you with a doctor’s visit or hospitalization should you require one. Please note that the charges for hospitalization and other medical expenses will have to be borne by the traveller. Unventured has a dedicated support system in place at each destination. Our team will contact you to offer assistance and advice, coordinate with your travel insurance company and keep in touch until you are able to re-join the trip or return home. This service is included in the cost of your trip; however, it is not a replacement for travel insurance, which we strongly advise you to purchase.

    • Can my family join me on an intensive cycling trail and not participate?

We would prefer our travellers participate in the activities and trail, although the support vehicle will travel with us and can accommodate your family. We would rather have them enjoy the trail as much as you do, rather than spend time in the vehicle. We can plan for an alternate travel itinerary without cycling where they will rendezvous with the tour group often and head out in their own support vehicle to a different activity. Do look upon our leisurely vacations which are family friendly and relaxed. Also, your tour leader will be able to help you with a customized option.

    • What if I want to participate in only a part of the trip?

As part of our scheduled departure trails, we would expect you to participate through and through the trail to complete your experience. Yet, we understand your limitations to days and we can help customize your trail for a group of 5 or more persons.

Call us “old-fashioned” but we’d love to talk in person to figure out exactly what you are looking for and provide valid recommendations.
