Here are some frequently asked questions about Unventured tours and experiences. We hope this will help you clarify any doubts or questions you have. Please feel free to pick up the phone or email us – sometimes we just prefer the old-fashion way of communicating!
The beauty of travelling with Unventured is that you’ll have the opportunity to meet, interact, and travel with people from all over the globe.
Unventured is a travel company, which focuses on small groups, and the group size does not usually exceed 12 participants. This helps us maintain our stringent safety and security standards and also allows participants to get to know each other better.
Each itinerary offers the perfect balance of downtime and discoveries. We understand that you may have varied interests and we will accommodate and facilitate your interests. If you have a special request, do inform us while booking your tour. Our non-intensive, leisure trips move at a more relaxed pace.
We pride ourselves on having the finest fleet of cycles and a support vehicle – which is fuel efficient, fully air-conditioned – and with reclining seats for comfort. Look up this page, “The Experience” for more details.
Hygiene and comfort are two primary factors we keep in mind when selecting accommodation for our guests. As an adventure travel company offering you local experiences, we want to ensure you get to interact with locals to learn their way of life. We use a mix of home-stays, hotels, and tented camp accommodations in remote regions on few of our tours. We select our accommodation based on the destination and some of the experiences that are unique to that region. For example, you’ll get to stay at a cosy Ladakhi homestay en route to Leh, amidst the hills, allowing you soak in nature and understanding their way of life. Or a comfortable hotel, depending on the availability at certain locations.
Yes, you can book for a group. We ensure hassle free bookings for groups – and we offer some great packages. If you’re a group of five or more, fill out this customised tour form and send it back to us.
Yes, we try and reduce our carbon footprint as much as we can. Well, our primary form of transport – two wheels on a cycle or two feet are already saving us from contributing to the carbon footprint! There are other measures we take like reducing our plastic intake and supporting local businesses. For example, we like opting to stay at homestays instead of corporate chains. Our travellers on our long-haul tours get a water bottle with a filter attached so that you can fill water from clear streams and drink without feeling stressed. We also ensure that any campsite we use is left spick-and-span when we leave it.

If you prefer the privacy of your own room, you can opt for our single supplement. The cost variance will depend on your trip. Talk to our team member who is coordinating with you for more information about single supplement and inclusions.

Yes, we do have a cancellation policy. At Unventured, we are not governed by a stringent policy to cover our commercial interests, we want to play it by the ear and ensure we make fair decisions to help customers not incur heavy losses when cancelling. Part of organising any travel activity, tour operators like us run the risk of making advance bookings and payments to hotels, eateries, and service providers. Our cancellation policy intends to try and balance this out between our losses and the customers need to cancel a tour.
A detailed list of things to pack will be mailed to you before your tour. We will keep in mind the weather conditions and activities involved. You will also be guided in terms of appropriate clothing to wear to certain religious destinations you may visit on your tour.

There will be rest stops every 20-35 kilometres depending on the terrain; you will have access to your luggage, and the opportunity to have drinks/snacks that the support vehicle will carry for you. Your support vehicle will travel with you at a 200 meters distance from you at all times, giving a levy to traffic and other occurrences.
Not all countries of the world have the same transport facilities and regulations. At all destinations we ensure that transport meets the standards of local regulations; you must be prepared for this to be of a different standard than you may be accustomed to.
Your tour leader is trained and certified in first aid and wilderness medicine. In the event of an illness in a remote location, he/she will monitor and assess the severity of your illness and support you with quick medical aid. In the event of an illness, our team will plan for evacuation measures, assist you with a doctor’s visit or hospitalization should you require one. Please note that the charges for hospitalization and other medical expenses will have to be borne by the traveller. Unventured has a dedicated support system in place at each destination. Our team will contact you to offer assistance and advice, coordinate with your travel insurance company and keep in touch until you are able to re-join the trip or return home. This service is included in the cost of your trip; however, it is not a replacement for travel insurance, which we strongly advise you to purchase.
We would prefer our travellers participate in the activities and trail, although the support vehicle will travel with us and can accommodate your family. We would rather have them enjoy the trail as much as you do, rather than spend time in the vehicle. We can plan for an alternate travel itinerary without cycling where they will rendezvous with the tour group often and head out in their own support vehicle to a different activity. Do look upon our leisurely vacations which are family friendly and relaxed. Also, your tour leader will be able to help you with a customized option.
As part of our scheduled departure trails, we would expect you to participate through and through the trail to complete your experience. Yet, we understand your limitations to days and we can help customize your trail for a group of 5 or more persons.
Call us “old-fashioned” but we’d love to talk in person to figure out exactly what you are looking for and provide valid recommendations.
My family recently did a 3 hour cycle ride around Hesserghettq lake. Tej was an excellent guide- She was patient, kept us safe, really friendly and knowledge about the area.... read more Everything was very organised and well planned. They provided great snacks and we stoped for coffee along the way, and ended with a much needed coconut water. The scenery throughout is beautiful and peaceful, going through little villages and passing lots of farm land. It felt like we had truly escaped the city for a few hours. I highly recommend the tour.
This is the second time I was a part of an Unventured expedition. A friend and I decided to partake the Makalidurga Fort Hike. Like the last trip I took... read more with Unventured which was the Nandi Hills cycling tour, everything was very well organized. Our guide Guru was enthusiastic, professional and friendly. I did not expect the hike to be on such rocky terrain or to be so steep. I am apprehensive of slippery rocks and steep heights. However I have to commend our guide here for the extent of his encouragement. He literally goaded me and pulled up up to the fort and assisted me a great deal while descending as well. The terrain was frankly difficult for me and terrifying at times. I only wish a bit more description of what to expect from the terrain was given. Still, as with Unventured tours it was an experience to remember for a lifetime. The fort, the temple on top and the views were spectacular as was the surrounding forest and the nature that we saw. In the end the sense of exhilaration is enormous. I got what I came for. Thank you Unventured Tours.
We did a 3 hours cycling tour around Hesserghetta lake with Tej. There were 2 children with us (under 5 yrs). Tej and Swathi, right from the beginning understood our... read more requirements, addressed our questions promptly, were there on time and fantastically organised this for us.
Strongly recommended if you want to plan an outdoor excursion in and around Bangalore with them. They plan very well - everything right from the cycles provided with safety seats for children, to refreshments on the route - was well thought through and executed.
Unventured curated this 3-hour fabulous cycling get away for me and my wife at Nandi Hills for our anniversary. A pleasant and rejuvenating experience so memorable!
Big thanks to... read more Guru and Niranjan for the diligent planning and follow-up to ensure they had all the information and inputs, very professional i should say. The best part of this 20kms cycling trip was the special brunch and chocolate cake they organised for us at Nandi Railway Station below this huge tree!
A special mention of Mahadesh from their team who was also very helpful with getting us the cycles to the start point and arranging the picnic basket with all safety and hygiene protocols followed.
Truly cherish this trip for a life-time!
My friends and I did the Nandi Cycle trail on the 16th of August 2020. This being my first cycle trail in over 15 years, i was a bit... read more nervous. Having said that, Tej and Guru did a good job in giving me helpful tips and making me comfortable.
The trail in itself was moderate yet very scenic, it was a pleaure to have a nice group for friendly riders to ride along. Guru has vast knowledge on the places that we visited during the 20Km trail and did not hesitate in answering any of our queries.
I definitely look forward to joining them in their next adventure.
Cheers
