Unventured is a small group only experiential travel company that organises bike, hike, and dive tours across India and South East Asia. Our experiences are off the beaten path and aim to open you up to the local culture, food, with insights into the history, natural wealth, and knowledge about the region you travel to.
In an Unventured expedition, you might not get to experience luxury travel; but instead, find real-world experiences! As part of our quest to create these experiences we collaborate with the locals of the region and bring together a wholesome experience that combines:
All of our guides are experienced cyclist and travellers. We pair our travels with expert local guides with experienced Unventured tour leaders to ensure that you get the perfect balance of insider insights and attentive personal service. Our tour leaders will support you and ride with you throughout the tour. Our guides are from a range of backgrounds; each has their own individual qualities, which add to your experience. They will in most cases be fully trained in first aid for adventure travel and are competent bike mechanics. On some tours a bike mechanic will also accompany the group and look over and service your bike daily.
We are meticulous in our planning and logistics. So you can live every moment of the adventure; undistracted, undisturbed, and unperturbed.
An Unventured experience is all about attention to detail. This goes with the logistical aspect of support and making for good quality content and delivery through our tour leaders.
Unventured is a small group tour company, and hence our group size is never more than 12-14. It is a mixed gender group and you’ll always be in the company of like-minded Unventured travellers, who also seek fun, adventure, and local experiences. It’s always a great experience to share the night sky under a campfire or in the comfort of a dining tent reliving the day’s adventure with the rest of the team. Our support set-up is planned to ensure guest comfort, but not luxury.
Our amazing tour leaders, who will not only make your journey fun and interesting, but will also be there to address any of your needs with regard to food, accommodation, and other facilities. Rest assured, being hard-core travellers themselves, they’ll make sure to do everything possible to make sure you can leave your worries behind and enjoy the moment.

At Unventured, we believe in delivering the promise that we have made to our traveller. Subcontracting or commissioning our promise of an experience to another contractor not only compromises on the quality but drops integrity. All Unventured tours are lead and delivered by us.
An Unventured, Tour Leaders will accompany you on your tour ensuring an Unventured experience of meeting local people, hear their stories, enjoy their food, learn of their way of life and culture in a way that brings every destination to life.
At Unventured, we take pride in becoming one with the region we travel to. Our tour leaders are usually locals from the region and we also work closely with local teams to help our crew. What set’s an Unventured Experience apart is that since our tour leaders are locals, they have vast local knowledge and experience of the terrain, culture, food, and all the nuances that are intrinsic to the place.
On an Unventured tour, you’ll mingle with locals, enjoy a taste of their way of life and gain special insights from your tour leader. Our idea is not to indulge in luxury travel where you’re far away from the realities of life; but real-world experiences – just with a softer impact!
Be prepared to taste some delicious local cuisine, indulge in a local sport, stay in a homestay or even witness a cooking class, perhaps. You never know what’s in store in an Unventured experience. Keep an open mind, and we promise you won’t be disappointed!
While we don’t really believe in “luxury” (we think it gets in the way!), we do make sure everything is of the highest quality, including your experience. Many places we go to are rural and remote. But given the circumstances, we make sure that all our guests are comfortable and well taken care of.
While accommodation is generally a budget or tourist class place (2-3 star), at tented camps (on some of our trips) each individual is given a separate tent. Food will be served fresh sourced locally or prepared by our very own travelling kitchen.
We try and make sure the food is nutritious and delicious, but do note that on some of our trips to remote and off-the-beaten-path destinations, we are dependent on what we can source locally.
My family recently did a 3 hour cycle ride around Hesserghettq lake. Tej was an excellent guide- She was patient, kept us safe, really friendly and knowledge about the area.... read more Everything was very organised and well planned. They provided great snacks and we stoped for coffee along the way, and ended with a much needed coconut water. The scenery throughout is beautiful and peaceful, going through little villages and passing lots of farm land. It felt like we had truly escaped the city for a few hours. I highly recommend the tour.
This is the second time I was a part of an Unventured expedition. A friend and I decided to partake the Makalidurga Fort Hike. Like the last trip I took... read more with Unventured which was the Nandi Hills cycling tour, everything was very well organized. Our guide Guru was enthusiastic, professional and friendly. I did not expect the hike to be on such rocky terrain or to be so steep. I am apprehensive of slippery rocks and steep heights. However I have to commend our guide here for the extent of his encouragement. He literally goaded me and pulled up up to the fort and assisted me a great deal while descending as well. The terrain was frankly difficult for me and terrifying at times. I only wish a bit more description of what to expect from the terrain was given. Still, as with Unventured tours it was an experience to remember for a lifetime. The fort, the temple on top and the views were spectacular as was the surrounding forest and the nature that we saw. In the end the sense of exhilaration is enormous. I got what I came for. Thank you Unventured Tours.
We did a 3 hours cycling tour around Hesserghetta lake with Tej. There were 2 children with us (under 5 yrs). Tej and Swathi, right from the beginning understood our... read more requirements, addressed our questions promptly, were there on time and fantastically organised this for us.
Strongly recommended if you want to plan an outdoor excursion in and around Bangalore with them. They plan very well - everything right from the cycles provided with safety seats for children, to refreshments on the route - was well thought through and executed.
Unventured curated this 3-hour fabulous cycling get away for me and my wife at Nandi Hills for our anniversary. A pleasant and rejuvenating experience so memorable!
Big thanks to... read more Guru and Niranjan for the diligent planning and follow-up to ensure they had all the information and inputs, very professional i should say. The best part of this 20kms cycling trip was the special brunch and chocolate cake they organised for us at Nandi Railway Station below this huge tree!
A special mention of Mahadesh from their team who was also very helpful with getting us the cycles to the start point and arranging the picnic basket with all safety and hygiene protocols followed.
Truly cherish this trip for a life-time!
My friends and I did the Nandi Cycle trail on the 16th of August 2020. This being my first cycle trail in over 15 years, i was a bit... read more nervous. Having said that, Tej and Guru did a good job in giving me helpful tips and making me comfortable.
The trail in itself was moderate yet very scenic, it was a pleaure to have a nice group for friendly riders to ride along. Guru has vast knowledge on the places that we visited during the 20Km trail and did not hesitate in answering any of our queries.
I definitely look forward to joining them in their next adventure.
Cheers
