Tour Overview

Bengaluru by Tuk Tuk

Riding in a tuk-tuk is a unique experience in itself. Weave your way through the hustle and bustle of the city as we take you on a memorable journey exploring the cultural diversity of Bengaluru. From the American missionaries to the Japanese, the tuk-tuk has its own ancestral history. This iconic vehicle manages to transport the city’s population of 11.5 million, at some point or the other. On this Unvenured tour, the interactions with locals will remain with you as an unforgettable memory. The spaces you will see and visit on this trail are a heady mix of the old and new – quite like a delicious local breakfast called “chow chow bhath” (we’ll teach you how to pronounce it), which includes a sweet and savoury dish, eaten together to get the best of both worlds in one go.

This experience rich trail is a good way to explore “namma ooru”, especially if you are a traveller looking to truly savour this city rather than just ticking off the must-see’s.

Here’s what you will see on your trail:

  • Visit a Scottish Presbyterian Kirk, which hosts a 150-year-old pipe organ
  • Visit an old Hindu temple – the “Kote Venkataramana Temple” with influences of the wealthy Vijayanagara Empire
  • The remnants of a palace that once belonged to Tipu Sultan
  • A walk about the fragrant flower market
  • Walk through the bustling market streets
  • A scrumptious meal at a local joint that is iconic for the old-timers of Bangalore

Who can do this tour?

This tour is for anyone with a keen interest in taking a wholesome experience of Bengaluru, a contrast of the old and the new, all amalgamated into a half-day tour through the markets of the city. Ideal if you are someone who wants to immerse yourself in understanding the “local” way of life.

Physically this is NOT an INTENSIVE walk, making it doable for anyone who wishes to explore Bangalore through its by-lanes.

Please read the Cancellation Policy thoroughly before you make a booking.

Tuktuks, or auto rickshaws, are used to go from one location to another on this tour, but at each stop you go on foot. Being a tuk tuk passenger in Bangalore, or Bengaluru, is no hardship, because the air quality is fine – far better than in Delhi. Our stops included a temple, an historical site, and a couple of churches, one silent and austere, the other bustling and vibrant. But for us the highlight was the K.R. Market and the small-shop area sprawling around it. “Guru” took us to the best vantage point for the astounding flower market, answered our questions about the mysterious (to us) merchandise on sale, and navigated throught the confusing (to us) and places unlisted in any guidebook.

When we first came upon this tour listing we were a little intimidated by the price, but now we feel that we had very good value. If ever we’re back here we’ll seek out this company for another tour.
