Tour Overview

Temple and Thindi (Breakfast) Trail

The city of Bengaluru is well-known for its religious, cultural, and spiritual history. This can be seen in the numerous heritage spaces echoing Kannada art, culture, and tradition. On this trail, we venture into some of the oldest temples in the city that go back to the 9th Century and beyond. Explore the city listening to stories filled with magic, of gods, mighty kings, and the allure of dynamic dynasties.

Bangalore or Bengaluru, as we call it now, was ruled by the Chola Dynasty in the 10th century. From the marvellous architecture of the empires that ruled this region, the mystery of astronomical significance, monolithic rock-cut art, and fascinating stories inspiring temples of magic and mystery, Gods who turned to stones and rogue bulls. Well, these are just a few examples of the stories you will get to hear on this tour.

This trail introduces you to “Bendakaalooru” our city of ‘boiled beans’ before it became Bangalore and now Bengaluru. Come, relive the city’s history while you feast on a scrumptious breakfast in the old joints that have been legendary and significant to the city. On this trail, you will experience…

  • A small hike up a hill to catch the morning sun rise above the city
  • Soak in the heady aromas of coffee and savour food that melts in your mouth at the legendary MTR
  • Ride through the early morning hustle and bustle past fragrant streets loaded with fresh flowers
  • A peek into the legends and stories that hint at the “Trimurthies” (Brahma, Vishnu & Maheshwara) visiting our quaint little “ooru” at the Ragi Gudda Temple
  • The makings of Bangalore through the vision of its Chieftain, Kempegowda and his stories of the raged bull at the famed Bull Temple
  • The know-how into how summer and winter solstice was predicted centuries ago at the only cave temple in Bangalore
  • Feast on mouthwatering local delicacies at the “Thindi Beedi” food street

Perfect way to see Bangalore and get an authentic South-Indian experience
Can‘t recommend Unventured enough. Customer service was incredible starting with Priya organizing my day, and Guru was a perfect tour guide. He helped me understand the basics of Hinduism before attending the temples which really enhanced the meaning of each visit. He knew the city like the back of his hand and knew everything about every temple. Breakfast at MTR is a great way to start off the day, so come hungry. As long as you have plenty of water and comfortable clothes you should be fine for the day. I wore pants thinking they’d be necessary for the temples, but shorts would have been fine at all of them. I would just cover your shoulders.

Overall this is the best thing I’ve done in Bangalore in the 6 weeks I’ve been here, and will most likely do another Unventured tour at some point in the rest of my time here.
