On this half day walk, let us take you through their innovative political systems, their contribution in the economic, banking, and educational sectors. The Maharajah’s interest in the arts and architecture led to the making of a Royal city that was once the capital of the state of Karnataka. To date, Mysuru is considered a model city for its ideal infrastructure and astute ways of using its resources. You also get to try the local flavors in the form of its cuisine and famed Mysuru nugget coffee. The Maharajah walk is ideal for travelers who want to make the most of their time in the Royal city.

• Walk around the Palace and market learning of the political systems of the Diwans
• Learn of the Late Viceroy Dufferin and the monumental clock
• Try some locally grown and roasted coffee

Who can do this tour?

This tour will guide you along the many milestones created by the Maharajahs of Mysuru. This is an ideal tour for anyone who is keen to understand the rich history, culture, and way of life of the Mysoreans. Your guide will fill you in on anecdotes, stories, and quirks of the Maharajah’s that came to make Mysuru the Royal city.

Physically, this is not an intensive walk. You will be walking about 5 kilometres in distance making it doable for anyone who wishes explore Mysuru by foot. Just be warned of a lot of people and bustling streets. What you will experience is a fun-filled walk with a local open to sharing with you a bounty of diverse experiences.

8:00 AM: Meet in front of the Amba Vilas Palace

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM: Introduction to Mysuru

8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Walk along the many monuments commissioned by the Diwans and the late Maharajahs of Mysuru

9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Breakfast at an old timer’s cafe

9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: Walkabout in the Devaraja Urs Market started by the erstwhile late Chamaraja Wodeyar.

10:00 AM – 10:30 AM: A walk about the Public Offices learning about some of the dignitaries

10:30 AM – 11:30 AM: A guided walk inside the Amba Vilas Palace

12:00: End of Tour
