Tour Overview

‘The Treasures of Mysuru’ Day Visit Tour from Bangalore

If the south of India is on your travel list, then you cannot miss Mysuru. You will drive 160 kilometres south-west of Bangalore to get to Karnataka’s most popular tourist destination – Mysuru or ‘the royal capital’. The land fit for the Maharajah’s, a centre for sandalwood carving, yoga, silk, and incense production.

On the “Treasures of Mysuru” tour, we take a journey back in time in uncovering the history of Mysore, its countryside and life in the region. We’ll begin the journey from Bangalore covering some must-see experiences and spend the second half of the day in Mysore, visiting the Royal Amba Vilas palace, walk through the markets, craftsman streets, and visit a silk factory.

If you are short on time and still curious to get an overview of the stories leading up to Mysore and its royal history, then the Mysore day tour is perfect for you. This tour is a good blend of off-beat experiences and “touristy” essences of the city.

Some of the experiences on this trail are:

  • A visit to a toy factory in the quaint little town of Channapatna
  • A guided walk in the Mysore Palace that has its roots back to the 14th century
  • A stroll around the colourful Devaraja Urs Market. You can delight your senses by making your own signature perfume or simply stroll about clicking some surreal market shots
  • Visit the artisan’s street and a street popular for turning second hand and used wood to fine pieces of art.
  • A guided walk at a silk factory. The factory that has its humble beginning in 1930 today boasts of more than 160 looms. If shopping for fine silks is on your list, this is the ideal place.
  • Visit the 12th-century temple of the mother deity after whose honour and valour Mysore is named after. The drive up to the temple will reward you with the surreal sunset views above the royal city of Mysore.

I really enjoyed getting to know Mysore by Tej and Arjun’s guidance. You can tell that you are being guided by passionate people who love what they do. I was sick during that day and they made sure I felt very comfy and taken care of. Everything was according to plan, no surprises. You get the feeling that you are traveling with friends and that’s a plus. Even before taking the tour, the customer service was over the top. On time and efficient responses always.
